Extraction process of precious metals platinum and palladium

Release time:2025-07-28 13:10 Views:

As a professional extraction equipment manufacturer, we are well aware of the importance of platinum and palladium recovery. Platinum and palladium, as precious metals, are widely present in nature and industrial materials, but the content of primary ore is low, and the secondary resource recovery value is significant. Our equipment can efficiently complete the entire process of platinum and palladium extraction.

Platinum palladium extraction equipment

In the pretreatment stage, the equipment can accurately crush and screen platinum and palladium-containing waste materials, such as industrial catalysts, electronic components, etc., to increase the reaction surface area. Subsequently, the base metals in the waste are heated and dissolved through a strong acid pickling device to achieve a preliminary separation from platinum and palladium, and the insoluble impurities are filtered to remove the filter residues with clean water to remove the residual acid.

In the dissolution stage, the equipment can accurately control the amount of aqua regia and the heating conditions to fully dissolve the pretreated platinum and palladium slag. The strong oxidizing property of aqua regia can dissolve most of the precious metals. After dissolution, the concentrated nitric acid is removed to obtain a platinum and palladium concentrate.

In the separation step, if the solution contains gold, the equipment can use a reducing agent such as sulfur dioxide or an extracting agent such as ether to separate gold from other substances; silver is precipitated into silver chloride and filtered out, and special treatment is performed to reduce the adsorption effect.

During extraction, we provide high-quality extractants such as tributyl phosphate and di-n-hexyl sulfide. The equipment can accurately adjust the pH value and temperature to transfer platinum and palladium into the organic phase respectively. After the extraction is completed, the equipment automatically separates the phases and collects the organic phase and the aqueous phase.

During the stripping and reduction stage, the equipment can adjust the acidity of the loaded organic phase, strip platinum with thiourea, and then add a reducing agent to heat and boil to obtain high-purity platinum powder; palladium is stripped with ammonia water, and the stripping solution is acidified to obtain palladium salt, which is further reduced to metallic palladium.
