Rotary furnace: A core tool for antimony ore processing

Release time:2025-11-24 08:39 Views:

In the modern production chain from antimony ore to antimony ingots and antimony trioxide, the rotary kiln is the core equipment, connecting the upstream and downstream processes and achieving efficient energy utilization.

Rotary furnace

The rotary kiln is located at the center of the process flow. It receives the ore powder after desulfurization and roasting in the rotary kiln at the front end and connects to the flue gas treatment system and refining process at the back end. It is both the main reactor for smelting and a heat source for the rotary kiln, forming an efficient internal circulation.

Its core function is high-temperature reduction smelting, which reduces desulfurized antimony oxide ore powder into liquid crude antimony metal under high temperature and reducing agent conditions. It also serves as the energy center, supplying waste heat to the rotary kiln and reducing system energy consumption. The main raw materials are desulfurized antimony ore powder, reducing agent, and flux, directly producing crude antimony metal, which is an intermediate product for subsequent refining.

The process principle is based on a high-temperature metallurgical reduction reaction. A high-temperature reducing atmosphere is maintained inside the furnace, causing antimony oxide to be reduced to elemental antimony, which then melts and separates from the slag. The rotary kiln rotates continuously at low speed, ensuring that the materials are fully agitated and mixed, enhancing heat and mass transfer efficiency, and guaranteeing a complete and stable reaction.

The rotary kiln operates at extremely high temperatures, typically between 1000 and 1200°C, providing activation energy for the reaction, ensuring the full melting of antimony metal, and achieving effective separation of the metal from the slag.

In summary, the rotary kiln is not an isolated device. Through its unique rotational motion, it efficiently converts raw materials at specific high temperatures and works in synergy with other systems to achieve energy cascade utilization and environmental compliance, thus establishing its irreplaceable core position in the antimony smelting industry.
