In the pyrometallurgical copper refining section of copper sulfide mines, the core objective is to remove residual sulfur, oxygen, and other trace impurities (such as lead, zinc, arsenic, etc.) from the crude copper, producing anode copper with a copper content of over 99.5%. The key equipment in this process mainly falls into two categories.

Rotary anode furnace

The anode furnace is the core equipment for refining, typically employing a rotary anode furnace or a stationary reverberatory furnace. During the oxidation stage, air is blown into the molten copper, causing sulfur to react with oxygen to produce sulfur dioxide gas, which escapes, and some impurities are also oxidized and removed. In the reduction stage, natural gas or charcoal is used as a reducing agent to react with oxygen in the molten copper, removing oxygen from the copper and further improving its purity.

An anode casting machine is equally indispensable. After refining in the anode furnace, the copper is in a liquid state. The anode casting machine can precisely cast this liquid copper into regular anode plates. These anode plates are not only dimensionally standardized but also have a uniform internal structure, providing high-quality raw materials for subsequent electrolysis processes. This ensures that the electrolysis process can proceed stably and efficiently, ultimately producing high-purity copper products. The anode furnace and the anode casting machine work closely together to guarantee the smooth operation of the pyrometallurgical refining copper section of copper sulfide ore and the stability of product quality.
