In the copper refining section of copper sulfide ore electrolytic refining, key equipment plays an indispensable role in obtaining high-purity cathode copper with a copper content of over 99.99% and recovering precious metals.

Electrolytic copper refining equipment

The electrolytic cell is the core container, typically made of concrete lined with PVC or FRP. This design ensures the electrolytic cell's robustness and durability while preventing corrosion of the cell by the electrolyte, providing a stable environment for the electrolytic reaction.

The circulating electrolyte supply system is crucial for maintaining a stable electrolysis environment. Pumps circulate the electrolyte throughout the system, ensuring uniform distribution; pipelines create the transport channels, guaranteeing smooth electrolyte flow; and heaters precisely control the electrolyte temperature, working in conjunction with the pumps to maintain stable concentrations of copper sulfate and sulfuric acid solutions, creating optimal conditions for the electrolysis reaction.

The anode and cathode processing unit bears the crucial responsibility of preparing anode plates and manufacturing starter sheets. High-quality anode plates and starter sheets are the cornerstone of a smooth electrolytic reaction, and their processing precision directly affects the quality of the final product.

Specialized cranes are used for loading and unloading operations. They can accurately and safely place and remove anode plates and stainless steel mother plates (or starting plates) into and out of the electrolytic cell, improving work efficiency and reducing errors and risks caused by manual operation.

The washing and stripping unit completes the final stage of cathode copper harvesting. It peels the deposited cathode copper from the mother plate, removes surface impurities through washing, and finally packages it to ensure that the high-purity cathode copper enters the subsequent processes in a qualified state, while also preparing for the recovery of precious metals. These key pieces of equipment work together to ensure the efficient operation of the electrolytic copper refining section.
