The global pursuit of sustainable development is urgent, and the circular economy has become a core direction for industry, making the role of recycled copper smelting increasingly important. It uses copper-containing waste as raw material, reducing reliance on virgin ore and lowering energy consumption and pollution. Building a modern recycled copper smelting plant requires advanced recycled copper smelting equipment systems. The basic process includes four stages: raw material pretreatment, smelting, refining, and product forming. Each stage requires specialized equipment systems to achieve efficient and environmentally friendly copper recycling.

Raw material pretreatment system
Recycled copper raw materials are complex and diverse, requiring meticulous pretreatment:
Crushing and sorting equipment: Mechanically crush waste electrical appliances, cables, etc., and separate copper from impurities using magnetic separation, eddy current separation, etc.
Drying system: Removes moisture and volatile substances from the raw materials, improving smelting efficiency.
Batching and mixing equipment: Ensures uniform and stable composition of the raw materials entering the furnace.
Melting system
This is the core of recycled copper smelting, and the key equipment includes:
High-efficiency smelting furnace: Vertical furnaces, rotary furnaces, or top-blown smelting furnaces are commonly used, adaptable to different raw materials and providing efficient heat exchange.
Oxygen-enriched combustion system: Increases oxygen concentration, reduces fuel consumption, and minimizes exhaust gas emissions.
Heat recovery device: Recovers heat from high-temperature flue gas for power generation or preheating raw materials, achieving cascaded energy utilization.
Refining System
The crude copper obtained from smelting requires further purification:
Refining furnace: Commonly uses an anode furnace or a rotary refining furnace to remove impurities through oxidation-reduction reactions.
Online analytical instruments: Real-time monitoring of copper liquid composition for precise control of the refining process.
Flue gas treatment system: Efficiently captures harmful gases to ensure clean production.
Environmental Protection and Energy Recovery Systems
Key features of modern recycled copper smelters:
Exhaust gas treatment equipment: Including bag filters, wet scrubbers, desulfurization units, etc., to ensure emissions meet standards.
Wastewater recycling system: Achieving zero or near-zero discharge of process water.
Waste residue resource utilization equipment: Treating smelting slag to render it harmless and recovering valuable metals.
As the global copper resource recycling system continues to improve, efficient and advanced recycled copper smelting equipment will continue to play an irreplaceable role in ensuring resource security, reducing environmental impact, and promoting low-carbon development, becoming an important component of the circular economy infrastructure.
