In the aluminum processing industry, the treatment of aluminum ash slag has always been a crucial and challenging aspect, and rotary kilns play a unique and critical role, particularly in the treatment of hot aluminum ash (cooked ash).

Recovering metallic aluminum is one of the core functions of rotary kilns in treating aluminum ash slag. Hot aluminum ash contains a large amount of unreacted metallic aluminum; without recovery, this not only wastes resources but also increases production costs. The unique rotating design of the rotary kiln, combined with the added solvent, creates favorable conditions for the recovery of metallic aluminum. During rotation, the aluminum ash tumbles continuously, and aluminum and aluminum ash gradually separate due to their difference in specific gravity. Small aluminum droplets collide and aggregate during this process, eventually settling at the bottom of the rotary kiln for effective recovery. This recovery method significantly improves the recovery rate of metallic aluminum, enabling the recycling of valuable aluminum resources, reducing dependence on primary bauxite, and aligning with the concept of sustainable development.
Tumbling cooling is another key feature of rotary kilns in treating aluminum ash slag. Aluminum ash exhibits a certain degree of activity at high temperatures, but direct processing is challenging. The rotary kiln continuously rotates, agitating the aluminum ash and ensuring it comes into full contact with air, thus accelerating the oxidation reaction. As the oxidation process continues, the aluminum ash gradually cools, eventually forming loose, cold ash. This loose texture greatly facilitates subsequent processing using a ash-rubbing machine, enabling more efficient removal of impurities and further improving the quality and efficiency of aluminum ash treatment.
With its unique functions of recovering metallic aluminum and tumbling for cooling, the rotary kiln has become an indispensable piece of equipment in the field of aluminum ash and slag treatment, providing strong support for the green and efficient development of the aluminum processing industry.
